Reactive Imagination
Long before time had a name, there was Clarence. Clarence was a small particle which was somehow allowed to have a consciousness. Don't ask how or why, I just wrote the story, I don't make the rules. Anyway, Clarence was quite happy, floating about in the causal chaos which was pre-time. This was until, one day Clarence encountered another particle! It was the first one he'd come across in the null amount of time(?) that he'd existed.
Clarence, being the kind fellow that he was, tried communicating to the other particle, before realising that he had no mouth, and then wondered what a mouth was, or how he came up with it. By the time Clarence broke free of this rabbit hole of a thought train, another began.
Though he could not perceive light, and therefore neither could he perceive the lack of light, he was suddenly aware of complete darkness all around him. Clarence wished to himself that it weren't so dark, that something could be done about that.
Suddenly another particle passed him, much faster than the last, and another, and another. Many particles were zipping past at incredible and imperceivable speed, partly because - being a single particle himself - Clarence could not observe speed either.
In amongst this storm of particles was when Clarence asked the most important three questions; The first question he asked was, how come I am noticing all of these actions, yet I am not really capable of doing so? The conclusion he came to was that it is all simply in his imagination.
His second question was, what actually is an imagination? He came to the conclusion that it was something that allowed you to make things that did not exist before.
His final question was, what can be made with this new found power?
Clarence thought really hard about this one. He wondered about the particles around him, about what could be causing them to move about, where they came from, and what they actually were. The more he thought about where they came from, the more he also wondered about where they were going.
Something struck Clarence, what if there was a way to track where a particle had been, where it was going, and where it was at the same... in that exact moment, there was a sudden big bang, combining all of the particles, first into Hydrogen, then into Helium, Lithium, Beryllium, etc.
Time had been created, and with it, so too was the concept of velocity, force, gravity, causality, and all of physics at once. At the heart of this great expansion, was the singular, unique particle which had simply been given the power to create.
